How to post data on view page and to be saved?

I have a default web application project, with couple items listed:

when i pick one to vote, say the thrid one and get the view:

and what im trying to do now is when you click on the +1 red button up there, and get a  +1 value on the page under Votes. How can i achieve this and what is a good practise for this?
