I am using the cascading ajax dropdown to populate another dropdown based on the values of the first one. There are approximately 40 records in the first dropdown. Depending on what the user selects, it populates the second dropdown. There are an approx 2000 total records available within the second dropdown pulled from a simple one line select query on the ASMX page. Each selection from the first dropdown can produce 50 or so selections in the second dropdown. Without the cascading dropdown control and asmx service, the aspx page loads in about 2-3 seconds. When I add the cascading dropdowns the page takes 8-9 seconds just to load. I have the web config with permissions to the asmx page by profile in the location tags. Once the page loads the cascading dropdowns are fast, but that initial load is extremly slow and I am hoping to get some advice as to how to speed this up. Thanks.
